Leaving Moutiers station for Mottaret
Why Mottaret is further than Méribel Centre
Your driver is waiting as you leave the platform, with a name sign, having tracked your train using the number you gave when booking. Mottaret is the highest of our Méribel valley destinations, and most guests arrive for a week of ski-in, ski-out skiing with plenty of kit.
The van takes ski bags, snowboards, suitcases and pushchairs, and any child seats or boosters you asked for are fitted before you arrive. Do send us the name and address of your residence: it tells us which side of the resort to head for.
As far as Méribel Centre, the route is the same: along the valley to Brides-les-Bains, then up through Les Allues. For Mottaret the road keeps going past the centre, climbing several more kilometres up the valley to 1,750 m. In all, that is about 25 km rather than 18, and 35 to 45 minutes instead of 25 to 35.
The extra distance and climb are why the fare is €90 rather than €75 for Méribel Centre. On winter Saturdays the queue of cars heading up to the resorts can make the drive considerably longer, but the fare agreed when you book does not change.
Delayed train
A late train does not affect your transfer: your driver times the pick-up to the actual arrival. Missed a connection or caught a different train? A call or WhatsApp message is all it takes to rearrange things.
Arriving in Méribel-Mottaret: drop-off by side of the resort
Mottaret was designed for skiing from the door: many residences stand right by the pistes, which is a big part of its appeal at the heart of the 3 Valleys. When it comes to dropping you off, the one thing that matters is which side of the resort you are staying on.
The resort spreads up both slopes of the valley, and the two sides are not reached by the same road. With your exact address, your driver takes the right way straight away and stops at the entrance or car park of your residence, then helps you unload skis and luggage so you can settle in. The next morning you can clip into your skis almost on the doorstep, with lifts heading towards Méribel or over to the Belleville valley.

Méribel-Mottaret to Moutiers station transfer
Your return pick-up is at your residence, where we dropped you. Send us your train time and we agree a departure time together, allowing about 35 to 45 minutes for the drive down in normal conditions, plus loading.
On Saturdays, departures from Mottaret mix with arrivals all along the valley, so we build in a much wider margin and recommend booking this return transfer early. Book both legs together; each one is paid to its own driver. Skis and boots travel back in the van with you, so there is nothing to send ahead.
Bus or private transfer to Mottaret?
Coaches link Moutiers station with the Méribel valley. For a solo traveller with one bag, that is the cheapest option.
For a family or group, the maths changes: with eight in the van the transfer is €140, or €17.50 each, with no waiting for the coach and no final walk to the residence. The van leaves when your train actually gets in and drops you on the right side of the resort.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Mottaret €15 more than Méribel Centre?
Because the road continues past Méribel Centre and climbs to 1,750 m: about 7 km further and roughly ten minutes more driving. The fare stays fixed at €90 for one to three passengers, whatever the traffic.
How much for eight people to Mottaret?
€140 for the whole van: the €90 base fare plus €10 for each of the five passengers above three. A winter weekend surcharge applies on Saturdays and Sundays; the price calculator shows the exact fare for your date.
Can you drop us right at our ski-in, ski-out residence?
Yes, the van stops at the entrance or car park whenever a road reaches it. Give us the precise address: access differs depending on the side of the resort, and your driver picks the right route from the station.
Can we ski to Val Thorens from Mottaret?
Yes, Mottaret is linked by lifts and pistes to Val Thorens and the rest of the Belleville valley across the 3 Valleys ski area. If you are staying in Val Thorens itself, we also run direct transfers from the station.
