Courchevel's five villages

Each village has its own page, price and drop-off point: pick the one where your hotel or chalet is.

Courchevel 1850

The highest and best-known village, with its upmarket hotels and chalets and its own altiport. A transfer to Courchevel 1850 costs €90 for 1 to 3 people, covering about 25 km and 35 to 45 minutes on the road. Door-to-door drop-off, with help for your luggage.

Courchevel Moriond 1650

Formerly 1650 and now called Moriond: a sunny, family-friendly village with plenty of apartment residences. Our Courchevel Moriond transfer is €80 for 1 to 3 people, about 22 km and 30 to 40 minutes away. Child seats and boosters on request, just mention them when you book.

Courchevel Village 1550

Formerly 1550, now Courchevel Village: quiet and residential, with a gondola up to 1850. A transfer to Courchevel Village is €75 for 1 to 3 people, around 21 km and 30 to 40 minutes from the station. A way to ski the same slopes as 1850 for less.

Courchevel Le Praz

Formerly 1300, the historic village at the foot of the 1992 Olympic ski jumps. It is the first village on the road and the cheapest: Courchevel Le Praz, €70 for 1 to 3 people, around 17 km and 25 to 30 minutes from Moutiers station.

La Tania

A small resort at 1,400 m, built for the 1992 Games and surrounded by forest, with ski links to both Courchevel and Méribel. A transfer to La Tania costs €75 for 1 to 3 people, about 22 km and 30 to 40 minutes. Popular with British skiers, and your driver speaks English.

Which Courchevel village is right for you?

The names can be confusing because Courchevel renamed its villages: 1300 became Le Praz, 1550 became Courchevel Village and 1650 became Courchevel Moriond. Only 1850 kept its altitude as its name. They all share one ski area, and La Tania is linked to it on skis, so the choice really comes down to atmosphere and budget. 1850 is home to the upmarket hotels and chalets. Moriond is sunny and popular with families. Courchevel Village is quieter and residential, with a gondola up to 1850. Le Praz is the original village, at the foot of the 1992 Olympic ski jumps. La Tania, built for the same Games, is a small resort set in the forest. As for your transfer, the higher or further the village, the longer the drive and the higher the fare: from €70 to Le Praz up to €90 to 1850.

Meeting you at Moutiers station

The drive from Moutiers to Courchevel

Your driver meets you as you come out of the station, holding a sign with your name. For Courchevel, one detail matters more than anywhere else: the exact village. Le Praz and 1850 are some 550 metres apart in altitude and €20 apart in price, so a vague booking costs time on arrival. Give us the village, the address and your train number. Skis and suitcases go in the back of the van, and any child seats you have asked for are fitted before you arrive. For the exact meeting point and how the pick-up works, see arriving at Moutiers station.

From the station, the road follows the Bozel valley before the climb to Courchevel begins. Le Praz is the first village you reach; the others sit higher up, with 1850 at the top. La Tania lies a little apart, surrounded by forest. Allow about 25 to 30 minutes for Le Praz and 35 to 45 minutes for 1850, on a winding mountain road. In winter, almost every holiday starts and ends on a Saturday, so traffic across the Tarentaise can make the journey much longer that day, both going up and coming back down.

With your train number we follow its real arrival time, so the driver is there when your train pulls in, whichever Courchevel village you are heading for.

Courchevel → Moutiers station transfer

Bus, shuttle or private transfer to Courchevel?

On the way back, we collect you from wherever you are staying, in any of the villages. Work back from your train time: roughly 45 minutes on the road from 1850, a little less from Le Praz, plus time to load the luggage and reach the platform without rushing. On a winter Saturday, leave earlier still, as end-of-holiday traffic can slow the descent. Book both legs together so both journeys are arranged from the start, and pay the driver directly on the day.

Coaches run from Moutiers station up to Courchevel. For one person travelling light, they are the cheapest option, as long as you fit their timetable and walk the last stretch from the stop. A private transfer makes more sense once you are a group or carrying skis: eight people sharing the van to 1850 pay €140 in total, or €17.50 each, and are dropped outside their accommodation. Check coach times and stops with the operator before you travel.

Frequently asked questions

Do Courchevel 1300, 1550 and 1650 still exist?

Yes, under new names: 1550 is now Courchevel Village, 1650 is Courchevel Moriond and 1300 is Courchevel Le Praz. You can book under either name, but be precise about the village, as fares range from €70 to €90.

Which Courchevel village is cheapest to reach?

Le Praz, at €70 for 1 to 3 people, because it is the closest to the station. Courchevel Village and La Tania are €75, Moriond is €80 and 1850 is €90. Add €10 per person beyond three.

How much is it for a group of 8?

Each passenger beyond three adds €10. For eight, the whole van costs €120 to Le Praz, €125 to Courchevel Village or La Tania, €130 to Moriond and €140 to 1850, before any winter weekend surcharge.

Is the journey time the same for every village?

No. Allow about 25 to 30 minutes for Le Praz, 30 to 40 minutes for Courchevel Village, Moriond and La Tania, and 35 to 45 minutes for 1850. Leave more time on winter Saturdays.
