The climb from Moutiers to Courchevel 1850
As you step off the train, your driver is waiting with a sign bearing your name and takes care of your luggage all the way to the van. Guests heading to 1850 often travel with several large suitcases and ski bags, and the boot of the Mercedes van is built for that kind of load. When you book, give us the name of your hotel or the full address of your chalet, along with your train number. The drive is calm and unhurried, in a roomy vehicle, with a bilingual driver who knows how to be discreet. No deposit is taken: you pay the driver directly on arrival.
Train arriving later than planned?
We track your train from its number. If the arrival slips, the driver adjusts accordingly, so there is no need to call us from the platform.
1850 is the highest of the Courchevel villages, which makes it the longest drive in this part of the valley: about 25 km from the station. The road first follows the Bozel valley, then winds its way up to the top of the resort. Allow about 35 to 45 minutes in normal conditions. In midwinter, snow can slow the final part of the climb; your driver knows this road well and drives to suit the conditions. Saturday is changeover day across the Tarentaise, and queues of cars can then add a good deal of time to the climb to 1850, and even more to the trip down at the end of a stay.

Arriving in Courchevel 1850: door-to-door
Most of our guests in 1850 are staying in an upmarket hotel or chalet. Your driver pulls up at the entrance, as close as the road allows, and helps carry your bags to the door. If your chalet sits on a narrow, steep or snowy lane, let us know when you book so we allow enough time for the drop-off. The Mercedes van is spacious, carrying up to 8 passengers with skis and cases, and the journey is entirely private: nobody but your party travels with you. Discretion is part of the job, and your details are used for your transfer and nothing else. Flying in or out of Courchevel altiport, just above the resort? Mention it when you book, with your flight time.

Bus or private transfer to Courchevel 1850?
Your return transfer is timed around your train, very often a TGV back to Paris. Work back from the departure time to set your pick-up at the hotel: about 45 minutes down the mountain, time to load the luggage and a margin to reach the platform calmly. On a winter Saturday, build in a generous cushion, as many holidaymakers leave the valley at once. Your driver collects you at the door at the agreed time. Booked together with your arrival, the return leg is also paid in cash to the driver who does it.
A coach links Moutiers station with Courchevel. It is cheaper per person, but it runs to its own timetable and leaves you at a stop, from where you still have to reach your hotel with your luggage. With several large cases, that last stretch at 1,850 m quickly becomes hard work. By private transfer, four people pay €25 each (€100 for the van) and are dropped at the door. For a solo traveller with a small bag, the coach remains a sensible choice.
Frequently asked questions
Will the driver help with our luggage?
Yes. Your driver loads your cases and skis at the station, then unloads them outside your hotel or chalet in Courchevel 1850. Let us know if you are bringing an unusual amount of luggage so that everything fits in the van.
Why does 1850 cost more than Courchevel Village?
Because 1850 is higher and further away: about 25 km, against 21 km for Courchevel Village. The drive takes longer in both directions, hence €90 rather than €75 for 1 to 3 people.
When should we leave 1850 for a TGV to Paris?
Allow about 45 minutes on the road to Moutiers station, plus time to load the luggage and a margin on the platform. On a winter Saturday, leave considerably earlier, as the road down the valley can be very busy.
Is the transfer private, with no other passengers?
Yes. The van carries only your party, from Moutiers station to your address in 1850. We never combine several bookings in one vehicle, whether you are arriving or leaving.
