Station pick-up for Pralognan
To the head of the Bozel valley
People heading to Pralognan often travel with plenty of gear: alpine or touring skis in winter, big rucksacks, poles and mountain boots in summer. At the Moutiers station exit, your driver waits with a sign bearing your name and loads everything into the van's boot, which is designed for ski bags and bulky luggage.
When you book, give us your train number and tell us what you are bringing, especially if you are a well-equipped group: we will make sure there is enough room. Child seats and boosters are provided on request.
Pralognan is the furthest destination in the valley. The road climbs through Salins-les-Thermes, Brides-les-Bains and Bozel, then carries on towards the head of the valley, beneath the peaks of the Vanoise. In all, it is about 27 km and 35 to 45 minutes.
The final section is a proper mountain road; in snow, the driver adapts both driving and pace. On winter Saturdays, the first part of the journey, shared with traffic for Méribel and Courchevel, can be very busy and make the drive noticeably longer. Outside the ski season, the climb is usually quieter.
Skis, ski bags, child seats: our guide to skis and luggage, from train to transfer explains what fits in the van.
Delayed train
The driver tracks your train from its number and turns up at the station when you actually arrive, even if the timetable has slipped along the way.
Arriving in Pralognan-la-Vanoise, at the foot of the Vanoise
Pralognan is a mountain village at 1,410 m, in the heart of the Vanoise massif and on the edge of the national park, the first ever created in France. Its year follows two very different seasons.
In winter
Family-friendly skiing, cross-country trails and ski touring. The van drops you at your hotel, apartment or chalet, skis included, so there is no carrying them through snowy streets.
In summer
The village becomes a classic starting point for hiking and mountaineering. Rucksacks, ice axes and poles travel in the boot, and we drop you at your accommodation.
Give us the exact address when you book. Outside winter, transfers run on a pre-booked basis and weekends stay at the standard price, whatever the month.

Pralognan → Moutiers station transfer
This is the longest return journey in the valley, so plan it generously. Tell us what time you want to leave Pralognan; we will either confirm it or offer an alternative. Midweek, setting off about an hour before your train is a sensible rule. On a winter Saturday, add a real margin, as traffic thickens the closer you get to Moutiers. In summer, after a day in the mountains, keep time to pack away your kit. Outward and return booked together: each journey paid to its driver.
Bus or private transfer to Pralognan?
Coaches serve Pralognan from Moutiers station; for one person travelling alone, that is the cheapest choice, provided the timetable lines up with your train. With bulky gear, children or a group, a private transfer quickly makes sense: one price for the van, no changes, drop-off at your accommodation, even late in the evening. With 8 passengers, €140 works out at €17.50 per person, for around 45 minutes on the road up to the village.
Frequently asked questions
Do you run transfers to Pralognan in summer?
Yes, we do, as long as you book ahead. Hikers and mountaineers arrive in large numbers in the warmer months. Outside winter, Saturdays and Sundays are at the standard price, and the van takes rucksacks and mountain gear.
Will my climbing gear and touring skis fit in the van?
Yes, the Mercedes van's boot takes ski bags, rucksacks and poles. If you are a group with a lot of equipment, mention it when you book so we can make sure there is enough space.
How much is the transfer for 5 people?
For 5 passengers, Moutiers station to Pralognan-la-Vanoise costs €110, or €22 per person. Saturdays and Sundays in winter carry a surcharge, and you can book the return as well.
