The road from Moutiers to La Tania
Many La Tania regulars come from the UK, and your driver greets you at the station exit in English, holding a sign with your name. Send us your train number and the exact address of your chalet, including its name if it has one. The resort is surrounded by forest, and a precise address saves any searching on arrival, especially after dark or in falling snow. Skis, snowboards and suitcases are loaded into the boot, and any child seats you have requested are already fitted. There is no deposit to pay: you pay the driver directly when you reach the chalet.

La Tania is about 22 km from the station. The road climbs the Bozel valley, then heads up towards Courchevel; La Tania sits slightly apart from the other villages, at 1,400 m, in the middle of the forest. The drive takes about 30 to 40 minutes. In the depths of winter, a snow-covered mountain road calls for a steadier pace, and your driver will take whatever time is needed. Saturday is the big chalet changeover day: the whole Tarentaise is on the move, and the journey can take noticeably longer in both directions.
Arriving in La Tania, between Courchevel and Méribel
La Tania is a small resort at 1,400 m, built for the 1992 Olympic Games and surrounded by forest. It has ski links to both Courchevel and Méribel, so you can stay somewhere peaceful and ski in either direction. The resort is a favourite with British skiers, and your driver speaks English: you can explain how to reach your chalet, ask about the journey or agree the time of your return transfer without any language barrier. On arrival, your driver drops you outside your chalet or residence, as close as the road allows, and unloads the skis and luggage. If the way up to the chalet is steep or snowbound, let us know in advance so we can allow time for the drop-off. For a group of friends filling a chalet, the van takes up to 8 passengers in a single trip.

When it is time to go home, your driver collects you from your chalet in La Tania at the agreed time. Allow about 40 minutes to Moutiers station, plus time to load the luggage and a margin before your train. Chalet stays usually end on a Saturday, the busiest day in the valley, so bring your pick-up time well forward. You can book the return transfer together with your arrival, and agree the pick-up time with your driver in English.
For La Tania, check with the operator for coaches from Moutiers station: timetables, stops and connections can vary through the season. The coach suits a solo traveller with light luggage.
